Priorities for St. Cloud

Six areas where Alex will focus his energy and attention as your City Council representative for Seat 5.

Priority 01

Traffic & Infrastructure

St. Cloud's roads are under pressure. That has to change.

St. Cloud is one of the fastest-growing cities in Central Florida, and our road network is struggling to keep pace. Residents experience worsening traffic congestion every day — on Narcoossee Road, US-192, Canoe Creek Road, and throughout the city.

Alex will work with city, county, state, and regional partners to address transportation and infrastructure challenges. That means pushing for road improvements, advocating for funding, and ensuring that new development does not make existing traffic problems worse.

Infrastructure decisions have long-term consequences. Alex will ask the hard questions about capacity, funding, and timelines — before approvals are granted, not after.

Key Commitments

  • Advocate for road capacity improvements on key corridors
  • Require traffic impact studies before major development approvals
  • Coordinate with FDOT, Osceola County, and regional partners
  • Push for pedestrian safety improvements and sidewalk connectivity

Priority 02

Responsible Growth

Growth is inevitable. How we manage it is a choice.

St. Cloud is growing — and that growth brings both opportunity and risk. New residents and businesses can strengthen our community. But growth that outpaces infrastructure, strains public services, and degrades quality of life is not progress.

Alex believes that every major development proposal must be evaluated against its full impact: roads, schools, utilities, public safety, and the character of existing neighborhoods. Approving development without adequate infrastructure is a disservice to both new and existing residents.

Responsible growth means asking the right questions before saying yes — and being willing to say no when the community's interests are not being served.

Key Commitments

  • Require comprehensive infrastructure analysis before development approvals
  • Ensure adequate school capacity, utilities, and public safety resources
  • Protect existing neighborhood character and quality of life
  • Hold developers accountable for commitments made during the approval process

Priority 03

Transparency

Residents deserve to know what's being decided — before it's decided.

Too often, St. Cloud residents find out about major city decisions after they've already been made. Contracts are signed, developments are approved, and budgets are adopted — and the community only learns about it when it's too late to weigh in.

Alex is committed to making local government more accessible and understandable. That means breaking down complex agenda items into plain language, making official documents easier to find, and ensuring residents have real opportunities to participate before decisions are finalized.

Transparency is not just about posting documents online. It's about making sure residents can actually understand what's happening and have a meaningful voice in the process.

Key Commitments

  • Publish plain-language summaries of major agenda items before meetings
  • Improve public notice and community engagement processes
  • Make city contracts, budgets, and financial data easier to access and understand
  • Hold regular community meetings and town halls in Seat 5

Priority 04

Fiscal Responsibility

Every dollar spent is a dollar from St. Cloud taxpayers.

St. Cloud's budget has grown significantly as the city has expanded. With that growth comes greater responsibility to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, contracts are awarded fairly, and the city's long-term financial health is protected.

Alex will ask tough questions about spending, debt, contracts, and financial commitments. He will scrutinize the city budget, review major contracts, and push back when spending decisions don't serve the community's best interests.

Fiscal responsibility is not about cutting services — it's about making sure every dollar is spent effectively and that the city is not taking on financial obligations that future residents will be left to pay.

Key Commitments

  • Scrutinize the city budget and ask hard questions about spending priorities
  • Review major contracts and ensure competitive, transparent procurement
  • Monitor city debt levels and long-term financial obligations
  • Ensure financial decisions are made in the public interest, not special interests

Priority 05

Public Safety

A safe community is the foundation of everything else.

St. Cloud's police officers, firefighters, and first responders are the backbone of our community's safety. As the city grows, the demands on these services grow with it — and they need the resources, staffing, and technology to keep pace.

Alex will be a strong advocate for public safety funding and resources. That means supporting competitive pay and staffing levels for first responders, investing in technology and equipment, and ensuring that growth does not outpace the city's ability to keep residents safe.

Public safety is not a partisan issue. It's a fundamental responsibility of local government, and Alex will treat it as such.

Key Commitments

  • Support competitive compensation and staffing for police and fire
  • Invest in technology, equipment, and training for first responders
  • Ensure public safety resources keep pace with city growth
  • Support community policing and neighborhood safety initiatives

Priority 06

Families & Youth

St. Cloud should be a great place to raise a family.

St. Cloud is home to thousands of families who chose this city because of its community character, its schools, and its quality of life. Protecting and enhancing that quality of life — especially for children and families — is a core priority.

Alex will advocate for parks, recreation facilities, youth programs, and safe transportation options that make St. Cloud a great place to grow up. He will push for investments that benefit families across the city, not just in select neighborhoods.

The decisions made at City Hall today will shape the community that St. Cloud's children inherit. Alex will keep that responsibility front and center.

Key Commitments

  • Invest in parks, recreation facilities, and youth programming
  • Improve pedestrian and bicycle safety for children and families
  • Support community resources and after-school programs
  • Ensure new development includes family-friendly amenities and green space
